Oppo offer its new portable media player. S11 is the current top player of the OPPO mp3 player line featuring a 3” touchscreen, g-sensor and tv-out. The Oppo S11 has a file manager allowing id3 tag browsing and file search.
Among its features there is the video preview, a small thumbnail showing a screen of the video file. It does allow bookmarking of music, video and ebook position to let you return to where you left in any case.
The built in photo viewer comes with a nice thumbnail feature to quickly browse the pictures.
There are various built in games, making use of the g-sensor.

On the video front, it’ll play nice with AVI, DivX, XviD, RM, RMVB and FLV formats. If the 4GB of internal memory just isn’t enough, there’s also a microSD slot for loading in additional media. Price – $163.99.

Apple is due to drop a new Inventec Appliances manufactured, flash-based widescreen “iPod video” with touch-interface (widely rumored to carry the iPod Touch brand) sporting WiFi and an iPhone-like UI when it ships “at the end of this month or early October.” Also in the cards is a Foxconn manufactured iPod nano with more storage and iPhone-like UI at the same prices as existing models and higher capacity iPod shuffles from Asustek.

The Samsung SGH-X830 is a mp3 phone, equipped with a 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth, 1GB of Flash memory and a card slot. It supports MP3, ACC, ACC+, e-AAC+, WMA files. The Samsung SGH-X830 measures 84 x 30 x 19.9mm for 72g.

TrustedReviews has reviewed the Samsung SGH-X830 and says:

Serious compromises have been made here and they’ll make or break your decision to like or loathe this handset. If you want a phone that can handle web browsing and display a detailed calendar view, then this isn’t going to suit you.

The Saint B is an MP3 player concept out of Russia. Flash based MP3 player in a chrome-plated steel body frame. Control elements and OLED-display are covered by flexible, semi-transparent plastic. A log in to the computer and charging are via USB port.

A 22-year-old Norwegian hacker claims to have broken the security coding for Apple’s iTunes. Currently, iTunes can only be played on Apple’s iPod.

But Jon Lech Johansen claims his program will trick computers into thinking any MP3 player is an iPod. Jason Jenkins of T3 Technology says, “I think Apple’s going to be spitting mad, to be honest. This is a potentially a huge problem for them. It’s going to go straight into the courts. I’m surprised, to be honest, if he gets away with it.”

International copyright lawyer Mark Stephens adds, “Because the only way that Apple can defend themselves, is bringing copyright actions against millions of people who use this. That effectively makes it impossible to do anything about it, on a practical level.”

The Smothers Brothers has anounced a concept MP3 player. Those yo-yoing freaks would never need batteries or a charger.
The REGEN MP3 player on the yo-yo is powered by yo-yoing. 10 or 12 yo-yo tosses per hour are enough to keep your music running non-stop. Thinks it’s impossible? No, Bluetooth wireless headphones are included for you.

The concept MP3 player has capacity for about 200 songs, and is simple to use.

The Dell Computers will stop making portable MP3 players. DJ Ditty, last Dell’s MP3 player, was removed from company’s web site. “We’re tightening our consumer focus in core areas like PCs, printers and TVs because we believe the PCs are the hub of digital entertainment.”

The Dell’s line of MP3 players was launched in 2003, but never really took a large piece of the market. Amen!
